The client's needs are carefully evaluated before the systems integrators who build machines are significantly involved. Full automation is usually not required and manual processes together with semi-automatic lean workcells are evaluated. For those process steps that require automation, a justification is prepared. Planning shows how automation is integrated with manual operations. Using principles of efficiency and modularity, the investment is aligned with the flexibility needed to support the manufacturing strategy. This provides for a cost effective operation with significantly reduced risk over the life of the investment
