Lean Manufacturing An overview of the essential concepts of Lean Manufacturing. Intended for company owners and senior management. ( 2 to 4 hours in increments of 30 minutes to 1 hour )
Value Stream Mapping The theory and practice of Value Stream Mapping (VSM) are reviewed, including a review of the process mapping symbols and a review of example Current State Value Stream Maps (CS VSM) and Future State Value Stream Maps (FS VSM) to highlight how Lean Tranformation projects benefit from a system level master plan. ( 2 to 4 hours in increments of 30 minutes to 1 hour )
Kanban A review of the paperless visual flow control method in a number of different applications. ( 1 to 2 hours )
Five Ss The five Ss, Sort, Set In Order, Shine, Standardize, and Sustain. This cultural norm is one of the cornerstones of a Lean transformation initiative. ( 1 day. 1 to 2 hours of class time are followed by 6 hours on the factory floor, using an actual team of workers implementing the methods on an actual workcell )
Workflow Simulation For class sizes of 12 or more people, this workflow simulation demonstrates the productivity increases that are possible when process rules are changed from a traditional "Push" environment to the Lean "Pull" environment. ( about 3 hours. Best when combined in a series with the training modules listed above )
Complete Lean Training All of the above are combined with exercises on the plant floor for a class made up of line workers, supervisors, engineers, and managers. During the class, the students can do the investigation and planning necessary to transform 1 to 2 work cells. ( 40 hours, 4 hours per week for 10 weeks. For classes of 16 or more students, this class can qualify for California ETP funding ) |
